The fourth main mission in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Shadows Crossing, begins with your party regrouping at the Veil Jumper Camp. Here’s what you need to know about the enemies you’ll face, the loot you can find, and the big decision that awaits you at the end!

In this hub, you can find some services for the very first time. While you’re here, it’s definitely worth stopping at the merchant, where you can shop for equipment and sell your valuables for the first time. This would also be a good time to go through your menus and do some housekeeping, like:
- Ensuring you and your companions have the best available equipment
- Using up any skill points you or your companions have
- Checking in on how your relationships with your companions are progressing
Once you feel prepared, leave camp and head to your left to make your way to your next objective.
Travel to D’Meta’s Crossing
Your destination for this mission is D’Meta’s Crossing. As you travel down the main path, you’ll come across a power crystal powering some sort of wall. First, enter your skill menu and use Bellara’s Tinker skill to fix it, like the devices you saw during In Entropy’s Grasp. Once it’s fixed, pick up the crystal to shut down the wall. Open the chest on the other side for a Valuable and some Gold!
Take the power crystal down to the water, and activate the pedestal waiting for you there. This will summon a small bridge, leading to a small area with some helpful materials.
Now, head through the arches to get back on the main path. Keep an eye out to your right for a short secret path leading to a chest and codex entry! You’ll also be able to lower a ladder that leads back to the Veil Jumper Camp.
As you get past the series of arches, you’ll come to Ruins Reach. Head to the objective to unite with your other companion, either Neve or Harding, depending on your choice back in The End of the Beginning. Once you chat with them, you’ll paddle your way to town.

Establish Contact with the Village
Though, as Bellara notes, something isn’t quite right in town. It’s empty, silent, and foggy, a far cry from the vibrant trading market that she describes it as. Follow the path to the main objective here, and vault over the shorter barricade to the side to make your way into the town.
Inside, you’ll find the town has been completely overrun by the blight, even seeming to affect the minds of the residents. As you keep heading through town, you’ll eventually come to the town square.
Once you do, head left and use your ranged attack to take out the glowing red boil blocking a doorway. Open the chest inside to gain some Gold and material. Leave the house and head to your right to keep following the main path.
Eventually, you’ll find a few more survivors, this time remarking about bringing the Veil Jumpers to the mayor. Keep following the objective marker to head further into town.
Eventually, you’ll encounter another pulsating mass of blight. Like the doorway before, use your ranged attack to destroy it and clear the path. Shimmy your way through, and discover the fate of Bellara’s fellow Veil Jumpers.
As you’re heading to the next objective, watch to your right for another pulsing mass to destroy. Destroy this to find yet another chest to open containing Gold and materials, as well as a couple of pouches of Gold on shelves around the room. Then, head to the waypoint to investigate the call for help.
Major Choice: Mayor Julius

During this pretty eventful cutscene, you’ll have a few dialogue choices to make, but your major choice comes when you’re given two options:
Mayor Julius’s Fate Choice
Save him | Leave him here | Banish him to the Grey Wardens (Grey Warden Faction Only)
Bellara and Harding disapprove, Neve approves. | Neve disapproves, Bellara and Harding approve. | Neve greatly approves, Bellara disapproves, Harding disapproves |
Report Your Findings
After you decide what to do with Mayor Julius, open your map and fast-travel to the beacon back at the Veil Jumper Camp. Once you arrive, chat with Strife and Irelin near the center of camp to catch them up on everything you witnessed.
During this final scene of the quest, you’ll have one more important dialogue choice to make. When Bellara asks "How do we stand up against that?" you’ll have three choices, each being the favorite of one of your companions.
- "Whatever it takes" - Bellara approves
- "Step by step" - Neve approves
- "We work together" - Harding approves
You’ll meet a new ally, and then be taken to the ritual site for the next main quest, The Singing Blade.
